Serving Miles City, Montana with KYPR on 90.7 MHz.
Our first trip to KYPR was in March, 2007, with the object of
catching up on routine maintenance.
Signal Butte rises 600 feet above Miles City. The KYPR antenna is mounted
on a pole on the left (east) side of the summit, 15-Mar-07.
This concrete block building is the oldest structure on the site.
At one time, it was shared with a television translator.
Today, it houses the KYPR transmitter and support equipment.
The KYPR transmitter is the black and blue and silver
Broadcast Electronics FM300 on the right.
On top of the transmitter is a McMartin FM receiver,
which brings Yellowstone Public Radio to the site from Colstrip.
The 3-bay Shively FM antenna is mounted on a wooden pole.
This 5-element Yagi is mounted down the west side of the butte.
It is used to receive the YPR signal from Colstrip.
