KOBB-FM, Bozeman
signed on the air in 1980 as KBZN and was owned by Bill Reier. The transmitter was
located at the Radio Ranch on Johnson Road and the format was Top 40.
This is the FM transmitter building at the Reier Broadcast Center on
Johnson Road. The original configuration was two combined Collins 831G-3
25,000 Watt FM transmitters feeding a four-bay FM antenna on Tower 5. Note
the five-inch feed line and iso-coupler.
In 1981, KBZN was moved to the Story Hill Electronic Site. At that time, the tower was 150 feet tall,
and supported only one FM station. This December, 2000 photo shows the tower as extended to 230 feet,
with antennas for both KOBB-FM and KZLO.

At the time of the photo, they held much of the support equipment for the stations.
