In 2001, Ken Broeffle asked us to help with a major transmitter project at the
Deer Point Electronic Site, home to all four Citadel FM stations
in the Boise market.
High above Boise, 7200 feet above sea level, the Deer Point Electronic Site
is home to a multitude of FM and TV transmitters, 27-Sep-2001.
In 2001, Citadel partnered with two other FM and 5 TV stations to
construct a unique new tower and spacious transmitter building
at the Deer Point Electronic Site. The tower is actually a tower within
a tower. The inner tower has an 8 foot face, and is 240 feet tall.
The TV antennas add another 100 feet to the overall height. Since real
estate is at a premium on the mountain top, the tapered outer tower
takes the place of guy wires. At ground level, the legs are 32 feet
apart, and taper to 16 feet apart at the 180 foot level, just below
the FM antenna.
Six FM stations are combined to feed the Dielectric six-bay panel antenna.

all three legs at the 180 foot level. The array of sharp points is supposed
to keep static potentials from growing to dangerous levels.

The original transmitter building is identified by its lower roof,
at the upper right. The FM transmitters now occupy that area.
The FM combiner is in the area at the lower right. The remainder of the
building is for TV transmitters.

KIVI-DT Ch 24, KBCI-DT Ch 28, and KAID-DT Ch 21.
