KHKK-FM
Modesto, California, 104.1 The Hawk.
This station was originally KHOP-FM.
West of Modesto, in the foothills of the Coast Range, is the
KHKK-FM transmitter site. The Jampro JSCP-6 antenna on a 340 foot tower
gives great coverage of the California Central Valley, 20-June-2006.
Continental 816R-2A transmitter was in service as the main analog transmitter
at KHKK for about 20 years.
Equipment rack holds Marti RPU repeater system, subcarrier equipment,
Marti telemetry link transmitter, Continental coaxial switch controller, Moseley
MRC-1620 remote control, Moseley PCL-606 STL receiver, secret weapons,
and UPS.
Kevin and David pose with the new main analog transmitter for KHKK,
a Harris HT25CD, 29-June-2006.
Central to the transmitter plant is this coaxial switch, which allows
either analog transmitter to be placed on the air.
This air-cooled dummy load allows a transmitter to be tested
without placing it on the air.

and low-pass filter.
During our stay in Modesto, temperatures frequently topped the century mark.
The transmitter building was limping along on only one air conditioner,
so the inside temperature was in the 90's. Despite the conditions,
Jim was very happy to have the new transmitter on the air.
